Final Stats

AUSTIN, Texas -

Senior goalkeeper Colleen Quinn made seven saves for her second consecutive shut out as the University of Kansas soccer team tied the sixth-ranked Texas Longhorns, 0-0 on Sunday afternoon at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

The Jayhawks, now unbeaten in their last four matches away from the Jayhawk Soccer Complex, move to 4-9-4 overall and 2-2-3 in the Big 12. The four draws are a team record for one season. The Longhorns are now 11-2-3 overall and 4-1-2 in the conference.

Quinn made several key saves throughout the match as the Jayhawks were out shot 17-12 and had six fewer corner kicks (7-1). Quinn was tested often in the first half, making four saves. None were bigger than her sprawling save on Texas' Alisha Ortiz. Ortiz got a step ahead of the nearest Jayhawk defender, dribbled in and fired one from about 12 yards out. Quinn dived to her left and deflected the ball safely away.

The Jayhawks had chances of their own as they out shot Texas in the second half, 7-4 and in the second overtime, 4-3. Sophomore Monica Dolinsky led the team with five shots, two on goal.
 

KU tested the Longhorns goalkeeper, Dianna Pfenninger on several occasions with the closest encounter occurring in the dying seconds of the second overtime. Following a Texas foul, Dolinsky took the free kick from about 25 yards out and bounced a shot off the right post. 

Quinn's shut out marks the first time this season that the Jayhawks have kept their opponent of the scoreboard in consecutive contests. The Jayhawks also set a team record with their sixth overtime match this season and are now 1-1-4 when playing past regulation.

The Jayhawks now return home for the final three regular season matches. Nebraska comes to Lawrence on Friday, October 26 with a 3 p.m. kickoff and Iowa State pays a visit to the Jayhawk Soccer complex on Sunday, October 28 at 1 p.m. In the season's final weekend, Big 12 rival and nationally-ranked Missouri comes to Kansas for the border showdown on Friday November 2 at 3 p.m.
