Kansas Soccer Announces Spring Slate

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kansas head soccer coach Mark Francis announced Friday that the Jayhawks have finalized their spring schedule for 2010. KU will play six exhibition matches during the months of March and April, including a game with Saint Louis University on April 10 at Community America Field – the home of the Kansas City Wizards.
KU will open the spring slate with a 2 p.m. contest against the University of Kansas men’s club team at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex on March 27. This marks the third-straight year that the Jayhawks will face the men’s club team during the spring.
Kansas will play all four Saturdays during the month of April, beginning with a road trip to Arkansas on April 3, followed by the showdown at the Wizards’ stadium on April 10. The Jayhawks-Billikens contest will precede the Kansas City Wizards-Colorado Rapids Major League Soccer match.
The following Saturday (April 17), the Jayhawks will face South Dakota State at home at 2 p.m. Kansas defeated the Jackrabbits last season as part of the Jayhawk Invitational.
KU will wrap up the spring season with matches against a pair of Big Ten foes in Minnesota and Iowa at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn., on April 24. The matches are part of the Big Ten/Big 12 challenge which will also feature Iowa State. The Jayhawks’ match with the Gophers is scheduled for an 11:15 a.m. kick-off, while the Hawkeyes and Jayhawks will square off at 2 p.m.
