Kansas Hosts Nebraska Saturday in Spring Soccer Action
March 7, 2012
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Coming off a 6-0 shutout versus the Jayhawk alumni last weekend, the Kansas soccer team hopes to carry that momentum into the week ahead as KU welcomes former Big 12 Conference foe Nebraska on Saturday, March 10. An 11 a.m. start time is scheduled at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex and admission to the contest is free.
In its spring opener a week ago, the Jayhawks received a balanced offensive attack with four different players collecting at least one goal. Sophomore Caroline Kastor tallied a team-best three scores. Juniors Whitney Berry, Nicole Chrisopulos and Shelby Williamson also recorded goals.
Nebraska comes to Lawrence following a 7-10-1 record in 2011 in its first season as a member of the Big Ten Conference.
KU's current team features all 11 starters from 2011 and 17 letterwinners overall. In 2011, the Jayhawks made their fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and first since 2008 on their way to an 11-9-1 overall mark.
Kansas will take two weeks off from competition before resuming its spring season with a return to the Jayhawk Soccer Complex to host South Dakota State on Saturday, March 31 at 11 a.m.
