Sporting KC Takes The Field At Jayhawk Soccer Complex For Practice
April 25, 2012
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Even though the Kansas soccer season officially ended last weekend in the Jayhawks’ spring season finale, the Jayhawk Soccer Complex got one last workout as Major League Soccer’s Sporting KC surprised the KU campus with a team practice Wednesday afternoon. The open practice began at 2 p.m. with more than 300 spectators on hand to take in the action. Sporting KC ran through warm-ups and drills for about two hours during an unseasonably warm day with temperatures hovering around 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Players then stayed and signed autographs after the practice session. Sporting KC currently sits at the top of the MLS standings at 7-1 overall. Their home field, LIVESTRONG Sporting Park, is just 30 miles from the KU campus.
