Jayhawks Tie in Intersquad Scrimmage

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Freshman Erin Ellefson scored the equalizing goal with 16 seconds remaining in regulation as the With just seconds remaining, Ellefson lofted a high-arching shot from 30 yards away that eluded the goalkeeper and tied the score. Junior Sara Rogers was credited with an assist on the goal. Neither team was able to score in the 10-minute overtime period. The teams were originally divided into potential starters and non-starters, however several players saw action for both sides during the exhibition. Nearly everybody on the KU roster saw time in the contest, as 25 of 29 active players took the field Saturday. Sophomore Kim Boyer led the offensive effort with a game-high three shots and the first goal of the match. Boyer corralled a misplayed ball in the box and buried it in the 16th minute.
Goalkeepers Colleen Quinn, Julie Hanley and Stephanie Baugh all played minutes in net. Baugh, a sophomore transfer from The 26th-ranked Jayhawks will open the regular season Friday at the Kansas Soccer season tickets are on sale now. Season tickets are $40, |
