Kastor Named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week
Sept. 11, 2012
The Wichita, Kan., native had a career weekend for the Jayhawks, notching two multi-goal matches and collecting an assist to add nine points to her now league-leading 16 points on the season. The junior claimed her first-career two-goal game and earned her second assist of the year in a 4-1 win over Missouri State Friday afternoon. Two days later, she found the net twice in just over a minute, helping the Jayhawks to a 3-2 victory over NC State and extending their unbeaten streak to six games. Kastor now leads the conference in points (16), goals (seven) and game-winning goals (three). Kansas has earned four weekly conference honors through the first four weeks of the 2012 campaign (Ashley Williams - 8/21: Newcomer, Ashley Williams – 9/4: Offensive, Ashley Williams – 9/4: Newcomer, Kastor – 9/11: Offensive), marking the most by a KU team in the opening four weeks since the inception of the Big 12 in 1996. The Jayhawks return to action this Friday, Sept. 14 for a matchup with the Denver Pioneers. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m., at the Jayhawks Soccer Complex in Lawrence and can be viewed on AT&T Jayhawk All-Access.
