KU Soccer to Face Texas Tech in Big 12 Championship
Oct. 26, 2012 Big 12 Championship Bracket LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Soccer will be the No. 6 seed at next week’s Big 12 Soccer Championship and will face the third-seeded Texas Tech Red Raiders. KU’s quarterfinal match versus TTU is set for Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. in The Jayhawks fell to the Red Raiders, 3-1, in the teams’ only regular season meeting on Oct. 21 in Lawrence. KU and TTU have met only once before in Big 12 Championship play, with the Jayhawks advancing on penalty kicks in the 2009 first round match. Live stats and video streaming will be provided via the Big 12 website at www.Big12Sports.com, but KU fans can listen to free, live audio of KU’s matches via AT&T Jayhawk All-Access. Should the Jayhawks win, they will advance to Friday’s 8 p.m. semifinal game and will play the winner of Wednesday’s Baylor versus Kansasnotched its 10th 10-win season in the 14-year tenure of head coach Mark Francis with a 10-7-2 overall mark, including 3-5 record in league play. The Jayhawks’ sixth-place finish in the league standings is the highest since the 2007 group finished third. Last season, Kansas played the No. 2 seed Texas A&M to a 3-3 tie in the tournament quarterfinals but failed to advance, losing on penalty kicks, 5-3.
