LAWRENCE, Kan. - University of Kansas junior forward Caroline Kastor was named Capital One Academic All-District^® by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday night. Kastor was named to the second team and is the first Jayhawk to claim a spot on the prestigious list since 2006.

The Capital One Academic All-District^® teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. To be eligible for the team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average above 3.3 and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.

Kastor, who also earned spots on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team the last two seasons, was named Academic All-District for the first time in her career. The junior out of Wichita, Kan., is majoring in classical antiquities and led the Jayhawks in points (24) and goals (11) this season while also leading the Big 12 in game-winning goals with five. Her accomplishments on the field also garnered her All-Big 12 Second Team honors for the first time.

Kansas (10-8-2) likely ended its season Wednesday when the Jayhawks lost in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championship to Texas Tech, 2-0. The NCAA tournament selection show will take place on Monday, Nov. 5 live at NCAA.org.
