Kansas Sophomore Cressy Named to National Team of the Week
Nov. 3, 2009 SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Kansas sophomore Emily Cressy has been named a Primetime Performer by CollegeSoccer360.com for the week ending Nov. 1.
Cressy, a sophomore forward from Ventura, Calif., scored a pair of goals against then-No. 20 Missouri on Friday, Oct. 30 to lead the Jayhawks to a 3-2 upset on Senior Day. The victory over the Border Showdown rival Tigers moved KU into a three-way tie for seventh-place in the Big 12, and eventually helped the Jayhawks earn a spot in the conference tournament.
Cressy’s 11 goals this season are the most by a KU athlete since Caroline Smith finished with the same total in 2004.
The Jayhawks earned the No. 8 seed in the Big 12 Soccer Championship by virtue of a shootout against Texas Tech Monday night. KU will face top-seeded Missouri in the quarterfinal round of the tournament Wednesday evening at Blossom Soccer Complex in San Antonio, Texas. Kick off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
