COLLEGE STATION, Texas -
No. 4 Texas A&M scattered 11 hits over six innings to score eight runs and shutout Kansas softball, 8-0, in the series finale here Sunday afternoon.
KU falls to 30-15 on the season and 4-8 in Big 12 play. The Aggies improve to 42-7 and 14-1 in the league.
It wasn't until ten outs later that rookie Liz Kocon notched the team's third hit, and her third hit in the last four games, a base hit through the right side to start the sixth inning. A sacrifice bunt from Crisosto advanced Kocon into scoring position at second base but the Aggies' pitcher Megan Gibson struckout the next two KU hitters to end the inning. Gibson had at least one strikeout in every inning and totaled 10 for the game as she picked up her conference-leading 27th victory of the season.
Texas A&M scattered a KU opponent-high 11 hits over six innings, while taking advantage of two Jayhawk errors to score eight runs in the run-ruled game.
The Jayhawks next take on UMKC this Tuesday for a mid-week non-conference doubleheader. KU and the Kangaroos will square off at 3 p.m. in
