Kansas Concludes Homestand with Tulsa Doubleheader Wednesday
April 18, 2011
LAWRENCE, Kan. - After a tough stretch of schedule in which the Kansas softball (28-17) team played 10-straight games versus ranked Big 12 Conference foes, the Jayhawks will take on Tulsa (33-11) in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 20 beginning at 3 p.m. at Arrocha Ballpark. It is senior citizen day and those with a valid ID can get into the contests for $3. The Jayhawks, who are just a week removed from their second upset over a ranked foe this season, are led by sophomore Maggie Hull. Hull went 3-for-6 during last weekend’s series with Baylor to regain her spot as the team’s top offensive threat batting .346. She also drove in two RBIs versus the Bears as she continues to climb the KU single-season RBI list where she currently ranks fourth with 43 runs batted in. Senior Brittany Hile, who is second for Kansas hitting .344, is tied for fifth in the Big 12 and ranks in the top 25 nationally with 13 home runs, while sophomore Alex Jones leads the team with 47 hits and had a base hit in four of the last five games. Kansas is 27-4 versus non-conference opponents this season and has won 12 of its last 13 non-Big 12 games.
