KU Softball Makes Final Road Trip of the Season to Wichita State Wednesday
April 25, 2011
LAWRENCE, Kan. - In its final road trip of the year, the University of Kansas softball team (29-20, 2-14 Big 12) will head to Wichita State (16-31, 8-11 MVC) on Wednesday, April 27 for a twinbill beginning at 5 p.m. at Wilkins Stadium. The Jayhawks will look to improve on their 27-6 non-conference record and build off of its win at Iowa State last Saturday. With seven games still on the schedule, Kansas needs one more home run to break the school's single-season home run record set in 2005 with 54 round-trippers. Sophomore Maggie Hull went 3-for-4 versus Iowa State Saturday, including a grand slam, as she improved her batting average to a team-best .345 and moved into a tie for the third-most single-season RBIs in school history with 47. In addition to Hull, sophomores Alex Jones and Mariah Montgomery have been some of the most consistent Jayhawks down the final stretch of the season. Jones, who owns a team-high 52 hits, enters Wednesday's doubleheader riding a six-game hitting streak while Montgomery is batting .346 over the last nine games.
