Eleven Jayhawks Earn All-Big 12 Honors

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla - Three University of Kansas softball players earned All-Big 12 honors and eight were named to the Academic All-Big 12 team at the Big 12 Championship in Senior Betsy Wilson, junior Dougie McCaulley and sophomore Amanda Jobe were each selected to the All-Big 12 Second Team. Jobe, Val Chapple, Val George, Addy Lucero, Sara Sidebottom and Ally Stanton all earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors for earning a 3.2 GPA or better, while Stevie Crisosto and Sarah Vertelka were named to the second team for achieving a 3.0 -3.2 GPA.
It is the second year in a row that Jobe was recognized as a second team All-Big 12 and Academic All-Big honoree, while Chapple, one of four conference players with a perfect 4.0 GPA, also earns first team Academic recognition for the second consecutive season. Chapple was also named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team earlier this week. Wilson and McCaulley were the Jayhawks' top performers in conference play hitting .333 from the plate with seven and eight RBIs, respectively. McCaulley has also been the team's most consistent offensive player averaging .375 on the season with 63 hits. Jobe has a .258 batting average this year connecting for 34 hits. |
