Nicole Washburn had two hits, including an RBI double in the fifth inning to tie the score at 1-1.

Nettie Fierros was greeted at home by Val Chapple after Fierros led off the fifth with a single and scored on Washburn's double.

Washburn clapped at second after KU tied the game on her double.

Val Chapple delivered a double for the go-ahead run in the fifth inning.

With Coach Tracy Bunge urging her on, pinch runner Ashley Goodrich raced home with a smile on her face and KU's second run.

Tiffany Craner's tag at the plate in the sixth inning kept BYU from tying the game.

Kassie Humphreys gave up eight hits but only a first-inning run in the KU victory.

Humphreys shouted with joy after striking out the final BYU batter.
