KU Softball's Chapple Named Academic All-American For Second Straight Year

LAWRENCE, Kan. - 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Teams
She is just the sixth Jayhawk to earn academic all-american distinctions and only the second multiple-time recipient as Stephani Williams received the honor in 1992, 1993 and 1994.
Chapple, who spent the last four seasons as the Jayhawks’ starting third baseman, has a 4.0 cumulative GPA and graduated last December with a secondary physics education degree. She has since started working towards her master’s in education. She was also named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team this season for the third time.
The Overland Park, Kan., native was one of five Big 12 Conference players named an academic all-american and finished the season with a .307 batting average, 46 hits and batted in 25 RBI. She was one of three Jayhawks to start all 52 games in 2009.
Kansas softball wrapped up its season on May 8 with a loss to Iowa State during the first round of the Big 12 Softball Championship.
