KU Swimming Remains in Second after Day Two in Virginia
Dec. 4, 2009 CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Kansas swimming finished the second day of the University of Virginia Cavalier Invitational in second place. The Jayhawks completed day two on Friday with 548 points.
KU had several athletes place individually. Junior Iuliia Kuzhil recorded a final time of 54.84 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke, placing second in that event. Sophomore Abigail Anderson placed fifth in the same event with a time of 56.92 seconds.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Anderson placed fourth with a final time of 56.71 seconds. Junior Brittany Potter and sophomore Kath Liggett also placed fifth and sixth, respectively.
The Kansas 200-yard medley relay team of Kuzhil, Anderson, junior captain Joy Bunting and senior Emily Lanteigne earned a second place finish, recording a time of 1:44.27.
