Kansas Falls to No. 40 Oklahoma, 5-2

NORMAN, Okla. – The Kansas women’s tennis team fell to No. 40 Oklahoma, 5-2, Friday at Gregg Wadley Indoor Tennis Pavilion.
After grabbing the doubles point to start out, the Sooners won a trio of three-set matches to seal the victory over KU, which drops to 5-3 on the season with the loss. OU’s Mia Lancaster defeated junior Paulina Los at the No. 3 spot, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6, while Whitney Wofford outlasted Kansas junior Dylan Windom in the No. 4 match, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6.
At the No. 6 position, senior Victoria Khanevskaya fell to Oklahoma’s Emma Devine, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.
Kansas notched three total wins over the Sooners—one at the No. 2 doubles spot and the other two coming in singles play. Sophomore Belen Ludueña beat Whitney Ritchie, 6-4, 7-6, in the No. 2 match, while freshman Nastya Trubica extended her undefeated singles run this season by defeating Zita Engbroks, 6-2, 7-6, at the No. 5 spot.
The Jayhawks will now travel to Stillwater, Okla., to face No. 28 Oklahoma State Sunday at noon.
