Kansas Women's Tennis Keeps Rolling at KU Invitational
Sept. 22, 2012
LAWRENCE, Kan. - Six members of the Kansas women's tennis team advanced to the final of their respective singles draws Saturday, as the Jayhawks put together another strong effort on day two of the KU Invitational. Juniors Claire Dreyer, Dylan Windom, Paulina Los, senior Victoria Khanevskaya and sophomore Maria Belen Ludueña all have a chance to win their respective singles draws on Sunday after second-straight singles victory on the weekend. Freshman Maria Jose Cardona also remains undefeated in singles play in her Kansas debut. In doubles, Cardona teamed-up with junior transfer Haley Fournier to defeat teammates Dreyer and Anastasija Trubica, 8-2, in the finals of Draw B. Cardona and Fournier were the only Jayhawks who finished the weekend without a doubles loss, while Los and Ludueña bounced back with two doubles wins today to place fifth in Draw A. Senior Monica Pezzotti sustained an undisclosed injury two games into her first doubles match of the day, forcing her and partner Windom to retire and take fourth in Draw A. Pezzotti also defaulted Saturday's semifinal match in singles Draw A. The KU Invitational will continue Sunday at 9 a.m. at Jayhawk Tennis Center and is free to the public.
