Tennis Finishes Second Day Of Eck Classic

South Bend, Ind. - The University of Kansas tennis team struggled on day two of the Eck Classic Invitational Saturday at the Courtney Tennis Center in South Bend, Ind. The team finished the day with a 0-4 record in singles and a 1-5 mark in doubles competition. In the morning doubles session, junior Christine Skoda and freshman Lauren Hommell provided the teams' only day two victory by downing Michigan State's Sarah Andrews and Shelley Brady, 8-5. In singles competition, Kansas' lone singles winner on Friday, freshman Stephanie Smith, was unable to continue her winning streak as Virginia's Kristen James defeated Smith, 7-5. 6-1. The `Hawks are scheduled to conclude the Eck Classic on Sunday with singles and doubles matches against Notre Dame. Following the Eck Classic, the Jayhawks will conclude their fall season at the ITA Regional tournament in Tulsa, Okla., Oct. 20-24. Singles Diana Srebovic (Virginia) def.
