Four Jayhawks Head To ITA Regionals
Oct. 17, 2012
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Four members of the Kansas women’s tennis team will travel to Tulsa, Okla. Thursday to compete in the ITA Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Tulsa. Senior Monica Pezzotti, junior Dylan Windom, sophomore Maria Belen Ludueña and freshman Maria Jose Cardona will all represent the Jayhawks in the tournament’s main doubles draw. Ludueña and Cardona also play in the main singles draw, while Pezzotti and Windom will start the weekend in the qualifying singles draw. Pezzotti and Windom, the nation’s 25th-ranked doubles team, look to bounce back after losing their only match at the ITA/Riviera All-American Championships two weeks ago. Only Windom has played in the ITA Regional Championships before and this will be the Ludueña and Cardona’s first collegiate appearance as a doubles duo. The opening round of the qualifying draws will begin Thursday, while the main draw doesn’t start until Friday. Draws will be released the night before play in each respective event begins.
