Busy Weekend on Tap for Kansas Tennis

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Senior Ekaterina Morozova and sophomore Dylan Windom will represent the University of Kansas women’s tennis team this weekend in Tulsa, Okla., at the 2011 USTA/ITA Central Region Tennis Championships. Morozova and Windom will both play in the Main Singles Draw and will also compete as a tandem in the Main Doubles Draw. The remainder of the Jayhawks’ squad will host the 2011 KU Invitational Oct. 21-23 at the Jayhawk Tennis Center. KU will be joined by individuals from Kansas State, Indiana, Marquette, Abilene Christian, Iowa State and UMKC for the tournament. Morozova and Windom just returned from an impressive showing at the 2011 ITA/Riviera All-American Championships, where the duo made it to the quarterfinals of the Main Doubles Draw. The tandem, ranked 33rd in the Campbell/ITA Preseason Rankings, defeated opponents from No. 8 Virginia to make it to the quarterfinals, before being defeated by a duo from No. 3 Florida. At KU’s last fall invitational at the Jayhawk Tennis Center in September, sophomore transfer Claire Dreyer was crowned champion of Singles Draw E while sophomore Amy Barnthouse placed fifth in Singles Draw G.
