  • KU's first NCAA win since 2004, when the Jayhawks defeated Santa Clara in four sets.

    WITH CLEVELAND STATE'S LOSS:

  • CSU falls to 23-7 overall, snapping its 13-match winning streak.

    CLEVELAND STATE NOTES:

  • CSU jumped out to a 4-0 lead and then increased the margin to 8-2. KU was not able to get any closer than 12-10, as the Vikings claimed the first set. CSU was led by Kara Koch with four kills, but Kansas aided with seven attack errors.
  • The 25-10 score in the second set was the worst the Vikings were beaten in a set this season topping the 25-11 third-set loss to Valparaiso.
  • Kara Koch collected her 17th double-double of the season with 19 digs and 10 kills.

    KANSAS NOTES:

  • Kansas entered the NCAA Tournament as the event's No. 11 overall seed and ranked No. 20 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I Coaches poll.
  • The second set win, 25-10, marked the most lopsided set of the season for the Jayhawks, topping the 25-11 first-set win over Texas Tech in their last match. Kansas got eight points from CSU attack errors in the set, as five Jayhawks combined for eight kills. KU collected a 100 percent sideout percentage for the set (11-for-11).
  • Erin McNorton collected her 11th double-double of the season with 45 assists and 13 digs.
  • The third set proved to be the first one with lead changes. With six ties and three lead changes, KU took control with the score knotted, 7-7. The Jayhawks methodically built a 17-15 lead, until ending the match on an 8-2 run for the win. Sara McClinton paced KU with seven kills in the set, she finished the match with a match-best 16 kills.
