Jayhawk Volleyball Kicks Off Camp Season with June Skills Camp

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Camp season officially kicked off for the Kansas Volleyball team with the Jayhawk Skills Camp, June 3-5. The first of two skills camps, the Jayhawk coaching staff and players put the emphasis on teaching and developing the fundamental techniques of volleyball, as well as game strategies. During the three-day overnight camp, basic skills were stressed in drills, with team play incorporated to teach how all the fundamentals work in a live-game setting. Campers competed in the equivalent of 10 league and tournament matches, and each league team was assigned a camp staff member to help facilitate all the skills learned throughout the camp. Open to athletes entering grades 6-12 in the of Fall 2012, the Jayhawk volleyball team will host its second skills camp of the summer, July 20-22.
