LAWRENCE, Kan. -Increasing its coverage of the Jayhawks, Metro Sports will televise five Kansas volleyball matches from the Horejsi Family Athletics Center during the 2012 season.

Three of the five televised matches - against Iowa State, Oklahoma and Kansas State - will pair Kansas against a 2011 NCAA Tournament team. Creighton and new Big 12 member West Virginia make up the remainder of KU's televised opponents. The Jayhawks appeared regionally on Metro Sports four times at home last season.

"Our fans do a great job of filling Horejsi and for those who can't make it out, this provides a great way for fans to watch the Jayhawks," head coach Ray Bechard said. "We love the additional support and the excitement televised matches bring, but this also helps spread the reach of our program."

The television schedule kicks off with KU's match vs. Creighton slated for Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 6:30 p.m. It's the Jayhawks' first meeting with the Bluejays since the 2010 season, when KU won the Creighton Invitational. Kansas has won all five meetings with the Missouri Valley Conference foe.

Next up are the Cyclones from Iowa State on Wed., Sept. 26. ISU advanced to the 2011 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight and wrapped up the season holding a No. 8 AVCA ranking. They finished second in the Big 12 a year ago,

Two weeks later, Metro will resume its coverage of KU volleyball with the highly anticipated Sunflower State Showdown vs. Kansas State on Wed., Oct. 17, at 6:30 p.m. K-State reached the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in 2011.

Jayhawk fans can tune in and get their first look at the Mountaineers when Metro Sports televises West Virginia's inaugural visit to Lawrence as members of the Big 12. The Jayhawks and Mountaineers face off on Metro Sports in a rare Monday match on Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. KU is 2-0 all-time vs. WVU; the teams have not played since 2000.
