Senior Josi Lima paced KU to a three-game victory over Alabama with her 16 kills.

Jana Correa added 15 kills in the Jayhawks season-opening victory.

Coach Ray Bechard knew it would take an intense effort for KU to beat Alabama.

Freshman Savannah Noyes had nine kills in her first match for KU.

Josi Lima had 10 digs and Jamie Matthewson (3) had 11 along the back line.

Paula Caten fired a kill along the net past two Alabama defenders.

KU's volleyball fans enjoyed their first look at the team in action.

Emily Brown and Josi Lima combined for a block that brought KU to match point.

Lima then deftly lofted a shot over the Alabama defense to end the match.
