LAWRENCE, Kan. – For the seventh-straight year, Kansas women’s basketball will turn pink for a good cause as KU host its annual ‘Jayhawks for a Cure’ game on Feb. 7 against Oklahoma State.

The Jayhawks will don brand-new white uniforms with pink trim in honor of the event, which benefits Lawrence Memorial Hospital and the KU Cancer Center. Tickets for the ‘Jayhawks for a Cure’ game start at $5 and for every fan in attendance, a $1 will be donated. Additionally, head coach Bonnie Henrickson will donate an extra $1 for every KU student in attendance.

Upon entrance to Allen Fieldhouse, fans will receive a pink t-shirts while supplies last.  This season’s shirt has the option to be customized with a personal message by each fan and what they fight for.

Prior to the start of the game, all survivors are invited form a tunnel on James Naismith Court to welcome the team.  Survivors that wish to participate should meet in the northwest tunnel of Allen Fieldhouse with 10 minutes remaining on the pregame clock.

While at the game, fans are encouraged to stop by the Fun Zone in the northeast concourse and leave a personal message that will be displayed at Lawrence Memorial Hospital or the KU Cancer Center.  Kansas’ concessions partner, Centerplate, will offer pink straws, cups and cotton candy at concession stands with a portion of the proceeds going to ‘Jayhawks for a Cure’.

Following the contest against Oklahoma State, a live auction will take place on the court. Items in the auction include traveling with women’s basketball to a Big 12 game, a foursome at the Bonnie Henrickson Golf Tournament, women’s basketball season tickets, a Hardwood Club membership, honorary coach opportunities and much more.  All auction and luminary proceeds benefit Lawrence Memorial Hospital and the KU Cancer Center.

During the weeks leading up to the game, fans will have several additional opportunities to show their support of the fight against cancer.  An auction is live and fans will have a chance to bid on warm-up shirts worn by the Jayhawks during their pregame routine. The warm-up can be customized to honor a loved one who has been affected by cancer. Fans can bid on the customized warm-ups via an online auction until Monday, Jan. 26. The winning bidders will have the opportunity to partake in a postgame meet-and-greet with members of the Kansas women’s basketball team.

A new feature to Kansas women’s basketball’s ‘Jayhawk for a Cure’ is chance to honor loved ones with a customary luminary, which will line the walkway into Allen Fieldhouse on the evening of Feb. 7. Fans can purchase a custom luminary online and will be available for purchase until Friday, Feb. 6, or while supplies last.
