KU Signee Named to U20 National Team Roster

CHICAGO – Kansas soccer signee Parker Roberts has been placed on the U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team roster and will compete at the U-19 La Manga Tournament in La Manga, Spain, Feb. 28-March 10.

Roberts, a native of Leawood, Kansas, already participated in two U20 National Team Camps over the last six months and was recently invited to a third U20 camp, for which she was selected from dozens of players to be a member of the upcoming La Manga Tournament roster.

The No. 39 player on Top Drawer Soccer’s IMG Top-150 national list, Roberts was dubbed a high school All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as well as the Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year in 2014. The three-time First Team All-State selection led her Blue Valley North squad in goals each of the last three years, scoring 43 goals and adding 16 assists in that span.

She was also dominant on the club level. As a member of KC Dynamos from 2010-15, she won four state cup titles over the past five years and was a US Youth Nation semifinalist in 2014. During her time with the Dynamos, Roberts scored 135 goals. She spent three seasons on the Kansas ODP squad and was the team captain in 2014.

Roberts and her U.S. teammates will face Norway on March 5, the Netherlands on March 7 and Sweden on March 9. The squad’s full roster features 11 players currently in college, and 11 still playing club soccer. The teams competing in the tournament are focusing on qualifying for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
