Jayson Rhodes selected to play in 2018 Tropical Bowl

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas football’s offensive lineman Jayson Rhodes, who recently completed his eligibility, is heading to Daytona Beach, Florida for the third annual Tropical Bowl, which will be held at Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium on Sunday, Jan. 14 at 8 a.m. (CT). Rhodes will look to showcase his skills in an effort to secure a spot at the next level, while also representing Kansas football on the all-star level.
 
Rhodes will travel to Daytona Beach Thursday, Jan. 11, with practices slated for both Friday and Saturday in preparation for Sunday’s Tropical Bowl. The 2018 game will be video live streamed by FloSports here. A FloFootball subscription is required.
 
Rhodes will suit up for the American (Red) Team at the 2018 Tropical Bowl, where he will be coached by experienced FBS coach Todd Littlejohn, who has coached for New Mexico State and the University of California. All three Jayhawks will suit up for the American Team and play under Littlejohn. The 2017 Tropical Bowl saw half of its roster go on to the NFL, as 27 NFL teams were in attendance and more than 70 total scouts flew in for the event.
 
Rhodes saw action in 22 career games at KU, starting 14 at left guard. Rhodes was named KU’s offensive player of the week following the Jayhawks’ win over Texas in 2016. Additionally, he earned a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and the KU Athletics Director’s Honor Roll in the spring of 2017.
